Independent People's Progressive Party
Founded: 1974
Dissolved: ?
The decision by PPP to join Malaysia's ruling BN coalition in 1973 and subsequent allocation of only Perak seats led its Negeri Sembilan division to form IPPP. The word "independent" was play on PPP going into a partnership with the autocratic BN. Although PPP was the only BN component trounced in the 1974 Malaysia General Election, IPPP also performed badly and the GE became the only one that the short-lived party contested.
