Progressive Democratic Party
Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party
Founded: 9 November 2002
Set up by former members of SNAP led by William Mawan Ikom when the party was first dissolved by the government over a leadership tussle with James Wong. In 2015, Mawan left SPDP to form Teras with most of the party's state assembly members. The next chief, Tiong King Sing, amended the party's name in October 2016 to set up branches in West Malaysia and support BN parties in the Peninsular with no intention to contest seats there but let PDP remain a local Sarawakian party. After the 2018 Malaysia General Election, it was one of the parties to snuff out Sarawak BN and form GPS.
