Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah
(English: Sabah People's Hope Party)
Founded: 24 October 2016
Officially registered its acronym as "Harapan Rakyat", it was set up by former PBS, UMNO and PKR politician in Sabah, Lajim Ukin, with the belief that it was time for local parties to shape politics in the East Malaysian state without interference from Peninsular-based parties or coalitions. On 14 March 2017, PHRS and PPRS were admitted into United Sabah Alliance or Gabungan Sabah comprising SAPP, Sabah STAR and PCS. In the 2018 Malaysia General Election, PHRS provided the most candidates for USA but won no seats. The party left USA after the polls on 30 June 2018 and three months later applied to join PH without success. With less than three years in existence, PHRS announced in February 2019 that it would dissolve and merge with the state chapter of PH linchpin Bersatu, with Ukin voicing interest to head Sabah Bersatu.
